Johnny Hoogerland staat aan de vooravond van de Amstel Gold Race. De 31-jarige renner uit het Zeeuwse Yerseke kijkt uit naar de enige Nederlandse wielerklassieker op het hoogste niveau. “Gehuld in ons oranje tenue zal ik nog meer dan anders met kippenvel aan de start staan”, glundert de Nederlands kampioen van 2013. Dutch champion on the road in 2013 after a wonderful ride, Johnny Hoogerland changed teams last season after the demise of Vacansoleil and signed a one-year contract with Androni Giocattoli-Venezuela, for which he already raced the Gran Premio Costa degli Etruschi, where he finished 19th. Now, Johnny Hoogerland is in the Tour Méditerranéen, but the biggest goals for him this season will come in the Spring, when he’ll ride the one-day races and the Giro.
