ALDO INO ILESIC
On UHC’s Cosmopolitan Race Schedule.
VeloVeritas, Ed Hood, 8 April 2014
It was 2009 the Tour of Ireland when I first spoke to big Slovenian Aldo Ino Ilešič; but the rolling Emerald Isle countryside didn’t really suit his ‘brick built out house’ sprinter’s build.

'Form'
pezcyclingnews.com, Edmond Hood, 7 Augustus 2010
'Form' it's a strange thing; take Team Type 1's Aldo Ilesic. Three stage wins in the Tour of Morocco, a stage win the Vuelta Telmex in Mexico and then - nothing. Until the Tour do Rio in Brazil that is - two stage wins; it can only mean one thing. That elusive beast 'form' has returned.

"I want to ride more stage races and I want to win a stage in each one I ride!"
pezcyclingnews.com, Edmond Hood, 24 Augustus 2009
On the last stage of the Tour of Ireland, the game plan for Team Type 1 was to look out for Matt Wilson as best as possible and take the King of the Mountains jersey and for Aldo to clock some breakaway kilometres before the finish in Cork and the horrors of three ascents of Saint Patrick’s hill.

"Criteriums don’t prepare you for 196 kilometre stages"
pezcyclingnews.com, Edmond Hood, 23 Augustus 2009
The Tour of Ireland may be shorter this year, down to just three days; but with Cav and Lance in the field the quality definitely hasn’t been compromised. Team Type 1's young Slovenian sprinter, Aldo Ilesic, gives his view from inside the race.

Aldo Ilesic Talks Clarendon Cup
Pez Cyclingnews, Edmond Hood, 0 0000
The biggest race on the US calendar at the weekend was the Air Force Association Cycling Classic, Clarendon Cup in Arlington, Virginia. The race is this longest criterium on the US calendar at 100 kilometres and Saturday was the 16th edition of an event which has seen the likes of Gent-Wevelgem winner, Lars Michaelsen and ‘crit kings’ Rahsaan Bahati and Ivan Dominguez stand atop the podium. The UnitedHealthcare ‘Blue Train’ took their fourth straight win in the event, with 28 year-old Slovenian strong man Aldo Ino Ilesic lapping the field as part of an eight man break to take his first win of the year. Aldo has been a regular on PEZ through the years and we caught up with him at home in Slovenia as he took a little well earned down time before flying off to China to ride the Qinghai Lakes. The tall man from Ptuj first caught the eye in 2003 with a stage win in the Tour de Slovenia. In 2004 he turned pro with well respected Slovenian team Perutnina Ptuj and took a stage in the super fast Olympia Tour of Holland. The following season, a stage win in the Paths of King Nikola stage race in Croatia was the high light. The Giro delle Regione gave him a stage win in 2006; but it was 2008 when he really found his feet – with eight wins, from Croatia to Charlotte, North Carolina in the colours of Slovenian squad, Slava.
