A tough european debut hasn't deterred the american. His season, which started with the eight day Tour of California late in February, has been busy. After that race, he finished 70th in the five day Vuelta a Castilla y León in Spain and followed Paris-Roubaix with the six day Tour of Georgia.

I have been trying to go to Europe ever since I spent time there as a junior. I spent 2 years with the U-23 National Team in Belgium in '99, '00. I rode professionally with the iteamNOVA.com team until I wasn't paid.

American rider Aaron Olson, like most other pro racers, has the goal of one day taking part in the Grand Tours. But unlike the majority of professionals, particularly North American riders, Olson is getting his chance to race in the 'Big Show' next season. Following in the footsteps of Tim Johnson and Chris Horner, Olson will be the next American addition to the Saunier Duval-Prodir ProTour squad.

It's not every day that a professional cyclist gets signed with a Pro Tour team, and the frequency goes down even more if you happen to be looking for an American rider in the European peloton. Saunier Duval-Prodir had good success with Chris Horner in 2005, and when he moved over to Davitamon-Lotto for the upcoming season, the team wanted to fill his spot with another American rider.
