He turned 40 years of age on Saturday but Greg Henderson has signed up for at least another year in the peloton, inking a contract with the UnitedHealthcare team and planning a relocation to the U.S.

He turned 39 years of age a month ago, he’s been a pro since 2002, but Greg Henderson is fully committed to continuing in the sport for at least one more season. The New Zealand rider has confirmed to CyclingTips that he will remain part of the Lotto Soudal setup in 2016, and that he is hungry to keep riding well.

It’s hard to go slow when you’re paid to ride fast. Veteran sprinter and ace leadout man Greg Henderson (Lotto-Belisol) had to learn to slip into the slow lane in 2014 to recover from three minor surgeries. Those proved to be little more than speed bumps, and the 38-year-old Henderson was right back in the mix, picking up a win at the Ster ZLM Toer and slotting into his role as part of Lotto’s formidable leadout train.
