In the last couple of seasons, Andžs Flaksis had some impressive results in the U23 races: he won three times the individual time trial at the National Championships (2011, 2012, 2013), was a silver medalist at the European Championships (2012) and finished 3rd in the Tour of Flanders (2011). Also, he rode for two important US teams – Chipotle-First Solar Development and Bontrager – thus gaining experience for the future in races that had at the start also World Tour teams. A talented young rider (just 22 years old), Andžs Flaksis took some time this week to answer a couple of questions for Cafe Roubaix, about his seasons in the U23 ranks, his plans for the future and objectives as a pro.

La temporada llega a su fin y muchos corredores buscan un hueco dónde recalar para seguir compitiendo, algo que con la crisis reinante y la desaparición de varios equipos, se ha vuelto cada vez más difícil. Entre los tantos que se encuentran sin escuadra está un joven letón de 22 años con pasado en Chipotle, Andzs Flaksis, quién corre bajo la tutela de Axel Merckx en el Bontrager sub23, aunque no por mucho tiempo más ya que en breve subirá de categoría.

No es un misterio que la cantera del Garmin, el desaparecido Chipotle First Solar, era un derroche de talento, con corredores como Lachlan Morton, Steele Von Hoff, Jacob Rathe, Alex Howes o Raymond Kreder, por citar algunos andzs1— Escapado en Utah Pero no todos los integrantes de esa formación tuvieron la suerte de conseguir equipo como los antes nombrados, y uno de ellos, Andzs Flaksis, llamó la atención de Ciclismo Internacional, que contactó al letón tras el Tour de Utah.
