The game of ‘Snakes and Ladders;’ if you land on a ladder you go up the board but if you land on a snake you slide back down. Harry Tanfield is good at it, he went up the ladder from UK continental team Canyon Eisberg to World Tour team, Katusha Alpecin but that folded – however, he grabbed another ladder to go to French équipe AG2R, there was no contract renewal at the end of season 2020 though, then came the snake as he slid back down to another UK continental team, Ribble-Weldtite.

After a couple of years racing the big pro events like the Vuelta, Harry Tanfield has signed for Ribble Weldtite as rider contracts in Europe get real scarce for those out of contract at current teams. After winning stage 1 of the Tour de Yorkshire in 2018, Harry joined Katusha in 2019 and when that team folded, Harry found himself in Ag2R. His team, AG2RLM Pro Cycling Team, have training camps coming up to start the final preparations before the season restart for the teams in the upper echelons of the sport.

Dans cette « nouvelle vague » du cyclisme Britannique où l’on retrouves les Frères Yates, et les jeunes Scott Davies, Alex Peters, Tom Moses, Tao Geoghegan Hart, Richard Handley ou d’autres moins connus mais aussi talentueux comme le jeune Harry Tanfield, 20 ans, du team JLT Condor du charismatique John Herety, véritable découvreur de talents de son pays. Il est sûr que des Sir Bradley Wiggins, Chris Froome, Ben Swift, Gerraint Thomas et d’autres ont montré la voie à des jeunes mais ils leurs ont surtout transmis , avec une certaine aisance, l’esprit du « No complex » comme le jeune Harry Tanfield, 3ème de la Rutland Melton Classic (le Paris Roubaix Anglais) la semaine dernière et omniprésent sur ce tour du Yorkhsire.

If you remember our Gordon Arms Time Trial report earlier in the season then you’ll remember the name Harry Tanfield, he eventually took third spot. Harry also won last year’s Dave Campbell Memorial Race in the Kingdom of Fife, another race which VeloVeritas was present at.
