Il a été l’un des plus grands guerriers du cyclisme de sa Majesté, l’un de ses meilleurs agents et l’un des maîtres du temps sur le chrono, vainqueur de grandes étapes épiques comme cette 6ème du Tour de France 1988, un contre-la-montre de 52km, ce même grand tour où il porta le maillot jaune en 1994, puis une étape sur la Vuelta, Paris Nice, Tour de Belgique, étape sur le Dauphiné Libéré. Sean Yates fait partie du « Hall of Fame » du cyclisme et pas seulement celui du British Cycling (Fédération Britannique), son nom est inscrit à jamais dans la mémoire du temple.
