Michael Schär geht am Samstag in Düsseldorf in seine siebte Tour de France. Dabei wird der 30 Jahre alte Schweizer als Helfer beim BMC-Team sich wie fast alle seine Mannschaftskollegen auch ganz in den Dienst von Richie Porte stellen. Der 32-Jährige hat die Chance, als zweiter Australier nach Cadel Evans 2011 die Tour de France zu gewinnen. Auch damals war Schär bereits als Helfer dabei. Tired, but so happy, Michael Schär looks back to his first participation in a Grand Tour. 59 riders dropped out of the Tour of Spain before the end in Madrid but the young Swiss Astana Team rider persevered. He worked hard and made a big step forward in his development as a professional rider.

Michael Schär is a young professional from Switzerland and enjoyed success as the U23 Switzerland Time Trial champion in 2006, as well as a 3rd overall victory in the 2007 Sachsen-Tour. Michael will be 22 in May and is currently racing for Astana Cycling Team in the Tour de Georgia.
